It is the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation and Zion is celebrating in a fun way. God used Luther to remind the world of the importance of His Word and its’ central message that we are saved by the free gift of God’s grace through faith not by works. He translated the Bible into everyday language and emphasized parents teaching God’s Word in their homes.
Pick up a “Flat Marty” in the church lobby and take him with you to some fun places- on vacation, to dinner, a baseball game. Post your photos on Facebook and use #zionflatmarty in the text so we can find them. (Or email them to Jill Hasstedt) On Flat Marty Fridays we will post them to the Zion Facebook page.
Have fun! Remember the primary message of the Reformation – we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ Jesus alone as revealed in Scripture alone.
Martin Luther: The Man,the Moment, and the Movement. God used Luther to remind His people of salvation by grace alone through faith alone at a time when the Word had been largely lost and perverted. He translated the Bible from Greek into the common language of the people and challenged parents to teach the Word in their homes. The Reformation reminds us that the Gospel is a treasure which can be lost if we neglect God’s Word. We’ll update info on this study weekly at the Zion Belleville Bible Study Group on Facebook.
