Join us to celebrate Pastor Brian’s Seventh Inning Stretch and celebration of his ministry on Sunday, March 13 at Noon in Zion Lutheran School’s gym.
Please wear baseball-themed attire. Call the church office at 618-233-2299 to register.
Perhaps you have heard this story of how the 7th Inning Stretch in baseball originated! At an opening-day game in Washington against the Philadelphia Athletics on April 14, 1910, then President William Howard Taft threw out the first pitch before taking his seat in a box near the field. Between the halves of the seventh inning, Taft—”a lover of baseball” —stood up to stretch his legs. The crowd, thinking the president was leaving, rose out of respect.
On Sunday, March 13, the Zion family will take a moment with much love and respect to celebrate the ministry of our own baseball-loving Pastor Brian as he transitions to whatever God is planning for the innings to come!
The Open House will be held in the school gymnasium after late service. Join us for a baseball-themed menu of hotdogs, brats, nachos, and Pastor Brian’s favorites: Gus’s pretzels and Ted Drewes Frozen Custard. Feel free to wear any baseball themed attire. All Zion members are welcome! Come out and share your appreciation for Pastor Brian’s ministry!
