Sunday School
Sunday School at Zion is Steppin’ Up !
Welcome begins at 9:15 am (right after early service) in the school gym. Music, skits, and other fun provide a warm welcome and a lively start! Sunday school opening begins at 9:30 am
- Parents and Twos: At least one parent or other adult attends with a child in this fun class that emphasizes fun Bible learning at toddler level while also involving parents in the process.
- PK 3s – 4th Grade: Children are grouped by grade and travel with loving shepherd leaders and helpers from a fun musical and skit filled opening to story stations and activity stations. They hear and participate in the week’s Bible story and enjoy active games, snacks, or crafts related to the story! At the end of every week, Shepherd time is a place to discuss what they have learned and pray together.
- 5th Grade: 5th grade is a transition year. They participate with the upper grade classes and have their own shepherd leaders and helpers. They join the fun group opening with their shepherd group but then meet with other upper graders for a topical based Bible study led for the group. After the study time, shepherd groups meet for discussion and prayer. After midyear, 5th graders who choose to (and who have been active in Sunday school) can begin to serve as shepherd helpers (leaders in training).
- 6th Grade -8th: Stepping into Leadership: Sunday school has 2 semesters from September to May. Students may choose to either be in a Shepherd Group or serve as a shepherd helper (leader in training). Students learn the lesson as they lead while also learning about responsibility, preparation, and getting practice in a leadership role. All shepherd helpers in grades 6-8 take at least one semester to be in a shepherd group.
