Music Ministry
The purpose of Zion’s Music Ministry is to provide opportunities for individuals to use their talents in service to others and to glorify God. The groups serve at worship services, musical events and community events.
Adult Choir
- Meets weekly on Thursday evenings beginning at 7:30 pm
- Open to individuals ages 12 and up
- Participates in Sunday services, primarily 8:00 am and special music events
- Requirement: To enjoy singing praises to our Savior!
Handbell Choir
- Meets weekly on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 pm (prior to Adult Choir)
- Open to individuals ages 12 and up
- Participates in Sunday services and special music events
- Reading music is helpful but not necessary
Intergenerational Ringers
- Meets weekly on Wednesday mornings at 10 am
- Open to individuals of any age
- Participates in Sunday services and special music events
- Reading music is helpful but not necessary
Men’s Vocal Ensemble
- Meets the first Saturday of the month at 9 am
- Open to men/women with low voices who enjoy singing and only want a short-term commitment
- Sings the following Sunday during one or both services
Orchestra/Instrumentals
- Meets on Monday evenings at 7 pm
- Open to all with instrumental experience – keep their “chops” in action and play to the glory of God
- Generally plays for the 8 am service and special events
- Use of the entire group, small ensembles, and solos
Zion Christmas Choir
- Meets on Wednesday evenings during the months of November and December beginning at 7:30 pm
- Open to all ages 12 and up
- Also open to the community and other individuals who are interested in a short-term commitment
- Rehearses for the Christmas Concert which is held the third Sunday in December
Zion Lutheran School
- Students are involved in one of the following
- Kindergarten through 4th grade (each sings as a class or two classes together)
- Advanced Choir (grades 5 through 8, optional)
- Won by One (grades 5 through 8, try-out)
These choirs participated occasionally at the 10:30 am service and for school chapels
- Advanced Band (grades 5 through 8, optional)
- Beginning Band (grade 4, optional)
Praise Band/Team
- Provides music for the contemporary service at 10:30 am
- Instruments used are acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, keyboards, and drum set
- Vocals, both male and female
- All individuals are on a try-out basis with the director of music
